Ruff Ryders CEO, Darrin “Dee” Dean, was indicted yesterday (August 29) on drug and weapons charges stemming from an arrest earlier this year.Darrin Dean (also known as David Jones Green) and driver, Jerry Gilbert, were arrested on May 31 by the Palisades Interstate Parkway police after a traffic stop for a broken tail light.

Police said they smelled marijuana, so they conducted a search leading to the discovery of 1½ kilos of cocaine and a loaded .45 caliber handgun hidden in a customized floor compartment.

Both men were charged with possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of a handgun and possession of a handgun while conducting narcotics violations. They were released from the Bergen County Jail on bail of $342,500 on June 1. They were indicted by the Bergen County grand jury and if they are convicted, both men face up to 20 years.

Talib and Swizz Get Under 10

On a lighter note, Talib Kweli and Swizz Beats have broken into the top 10 on the Billboard charts.Talib Kweli’s “Ear Drum” debuted at the No. 2 spot with 60,000 copies sold. As Kweli’s third solo album, this is the first time the Brooklyn rapper has reached the Top 10. A few spots below is Swizz Beatz’s “One Man Band” at No. 7, which moved 45,000 units.
