Dr. Dre Sues “Rollin With Dr. Dre” Author For $100,000

Hip Hop super producer Dr. Dre is no stranger to the court room. The hitmaker who’s been involved in numerous lawsuits this year will be heading back to court after filing a $100,000 lawsuit against author and former friend, Bruce Williams.According to the lawsuit filed on Tuesday, October 28th, in L.A. County Superior Court, Dr. Dre claims he loaned Williams $101,377.85 and hasn’t seen a dime of the loan since.

Earlier this year, Williams released “Rollin’ With Dre: An Insider’s Tale of the Rise, Fall and Rebirth of West Coast Hip Hop,”  which chronicled the struggles of Dre and others in hip hop revealing such gems as “Suge Knight once gave Snoop Dogg a BMW 850 two-seater for his birthday in blue — Crip colors. Snoop enjoyed it until cops surrounded it one day — it had been stolen.”

Since it’s release, the book hasn’t brought about the best of luck for the good doctor. During a launch party for the written work, two men were hit from gunshots fired, causing the celebrations to end abruptly.

One of the man was fatally wounded while the other was left in critical condition.

50 Cent talks Detox

Perhaps a sign of things to come, more and more artists are speaking about their role in Dr. Dre’s alleged upcoming album, Detox. Possibly the most anticipated album in Hip Hop history, the latest artist to speak on the long-awaited album, which is to be released in November or December, is none other than 50 Cent.

“I recorded material with Dr. Dre for the Detox,” said 50 to MTV News. “It’s great. I want it back. I want the records back,” joked Fif.

50 did indicate, however, that he wants leftover material Dre has. “He has the music. It’s right there in the computer. I stop by [his studio] every time and get something that adds something significant to my project each time [I’m about to put a record out]. And I spend three or four days there. To me, he’s the best producer in the game.
“When I walk in the studio, I record the first [beat] that comes on regardless if I think it’s a hit record or not,” 50 continued. “We get in work mode, get comfortable and go through the material that’s in the computer. Dre always has hit records. Sometimes, artists that need producers, they need someone to create a direction for them musically. I need the jewels he’s just got laying around. He don’t gotta tell me what to do with it. All he has to do is say, ‘Track six.’ Or, ‘Go to track eight.’ He’ll have hits playing there. You just have to get in and get them.”

It’s 50’s guess - just as it is anyone else’s - as to when Dre will finally deem the album ready for release. “Hopefully he’ll get it done and put it out,” he said. “I’m waiting for the Detox. All I can say is, Dr. Dre is the best producer in my eyes. Just the consistency over the years. … He knows what he wants. He’s such a perfectionist that it becomes difficult for him to put it out.”

Invasion Of Privacy Suit Against Dr. Dre Could Be Headed To Trial

A lawsuit filed against Dr. Dre by the three former Detroit City officials accusing the famed producer of videotaping a conversation without their knowledge, could be headed to trial.

The conversation, which was videotaped in July 2000 prior to a Dr. Dre performance at the Joe Louis Arena , showed Greg Bowens, Paula Bridges and Gary Brown asking the concert’s producers not to show a video containing nudity to an audience attending Dre’s show.

At the time, Greg Bowens was the Detroit Mayor’s spokesperson, Paula Bridges was the Detroit police spokeswoman and Gary Brown was police commander.

The conversation would be included as bonus footage on Dr. Dre’s Up In Smoke Tour DVD.

According to The Detroit Free Press, Wayne County Circuit Judge John A. Murphy did not rule Friday (October 26) on a motion from Dr. Dre’s attorneys to dismiss the case and said he would do so within several weeks. Murphy said his inclination is to let the case proceed.

Dr. Dre’s attorney, Herschel Fink, told the judge that ‘the conversation took place in a room with people entering and exiting and with cameras obviously present, nullifying any expectation of privacy’, but Glenn Oliver, an attorney for the former city officials, says the cameras were hidden during the conversation

Dr. Dre On 50 Cent/Game Rift: ‘Nobody Is Gonna Back Down’

First Dr. Dre makes an appearance at the VMAs, and now he’s got an interview in the latest issue of GQ — maybe Detox really is on the way. The notoriously reclusive producer appears in the 50th anniversary issue of the men’s magazine and, for the first time, goes on record about the rift between his Aftermath artists 50 Cent and Game. “It was definitely a conscious thing,” he said of his decision to not speak up in the past about the feud. “This is something that’s between labelmates. I’ve said, ‘When you guys are ready to make some music, let’s get down. Let’s get in the studio.’ All that other stuff, that’s not for me. This is something they created, so it’s something they have to handle. I don’t feel like I have to choose a side.” Dre also revealed that, at the behest of Interscope Chairman Jimmy Iovine, he once asked Game not to dis 50 during a New York show. “I knew that this one wasn’t gonna go away,” he said. “I know these guys, and I know nobody is gonna back down.”

Dre Dre’s Detox Album is coming!

Dr Dre Photo image picture DETOXDr. Dre was introduced as a presenter on the 2007 MTV Music video awards, While he was presenting he yelled out to the crowd “Detox is coming”. Is this a sign from the Dr himself that Detox is still on the way? What can we expect from this seasoned Hip Hop veteran?  Considering most of the Hip Hop hits released in the last 10 years have been produced by Dr. Dre, This album should blow us all away and i think we will just have to wait and see what Dr. Dre comes up with for his supposed final album Detox!

Dr.Dre to Present At The VMA’S

dr dre photo image pictureWe got a nice little piece of information yesterday regarding a surprise presenter at this weekend’s MTV VMA’s, Dr. Dre. Now what would cause the elusive (aka Mr. always in the studio) producer to return to an award show? It is really strangeto hear that Dr. Dre will be presenting anything in public since the last time he went to an awards show someone got stabbed.

Now if Dre maybe had some project or an album to promote then his appearance might make more sense. Possibly an album that has been talked about for the last six years. An album that has found it’s beats on songs from 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes and The Game. An album that had dozens of song songs leaked with everyone from Rakim to Jay-Z. The album is called Detox and it just might be Dr. Dre’s final album.

Dr. Dre confirmed (in this video with Bishop Lamont) that Detox would be coming out in September 2007.

Akon Loves Working With 50 Cent, Warren G On Works on Dr.Dres Detox

Rapper 50 Cent and R&B crooner Akon were so pleased with the result of their first collaboration,“I’ll Still Kill,” that they’ve decided to do a few more together.“It’s one of them records where it’s almost like you get so successful, people assume you lost your street feel. You lost your edge,” Akon, on the Miami set of Wyclef’s “Sweetest Girl” video, told MTV.

“I’m at my highest point on the pop side, but I started with street records and still can go there. It’s not a problem. 50 is the same way. It’s just 50 is thinking more business now. He’s thinking radio, crossover, but at any moment, he can switch up and go there. Don’t get it twisted, we still will kill. SSK [SoundScan Killers] all day.”

“Shortly after the song was completed, we met face to face, gave each other a pound, gave each other a hug, like, ‘Nigga, we got a hit.’ Now we’re gonna do more records for both our upcoming albums. We’ll swap out. Whoever’s album it feel right on, that’s where we gonna put it.” Akon continued.

Warren G Works On Detox

No one knows when Dr. Dre’s “Detox” LP will be dropping and many don’t even believe it’ll ever happen. However, the infamous album is definitely on the way.

Recently, Warren G reunited with Dre and has confirmed to be on the roster for the album.

“I’ve been helping him [Dr Dre] come up with records,” G said. “Hey, that’s what I do, that’s what I’ve done since day one when we did The Chronic.”

50 Cent has also confirmed doing two tracks with Dre for the LP.
