Eminems Upcoming Album May be Delayed To 1st Q 2009

NEM fans excited about the rapper’s upcoming album will have to wait. When his best-selling autobiography, “The Way I Am,” came out last month, it was reported his album would soon follow in December. Wrong. “Eminem has been through a lot,” an insider said. “He is being a perfectionist and is completely obsessive-compulsive about this album. There’s a 50-50 chance it will be done by the end of this year - but most likely it’ll be the first quarter of next year.” The good news? “It’s great.” A rep refused to comment, but a pal of the rapper said, “There was never a release date set.”

Lil Wayne Named World’s Top Hip-Hop Artist, Answers Felony Charges

On Sunday (November 9) Lil Wayne added another accolade to his breakout 2008 year, as the World Music Awards crowned him the World’s Best Hip-Hop/Rap artist.
This year, the award show was held in Monte Carlo, Monaco and hosted by Desperate Housewives actor Jesse Metcalfe and former Destiny’s Child member Michelle Williams.

The annual ceremony has been in existence since 1988, and bases their selections on the worldwide sales figures of eligible artists per the London-based, recording industry entity IFPPI.

Under this criteria, the 3 million and counting worldwide sales of Tha Carter 3 propelled Wayne’s win over his peers and fellow nominees Kanye West and T-Pain.

The big achievement ended Wayne’s week on a positive note, after the star endured a vicious hoax and felony charges.

Early last week, Wayne refuted an online hoax that proclaimed the rapper had been killed in a New Orleans gang-related shooting.

In addition, Wayne appeared in Arizona Superior court on November 6 for a preliminary hearing on felony drug and weapon charges.

According to police records, a January 22 search of Wayne’s tour bus from border patrol DEA agents revealed four ounces or marijuana, an ounce of cocaine, 41 grams of Ecstasy, and a .40 caliber pistol registered to Wayne.

The star’s next scheduled court date is set for November 21.

Although still riding the success of “Mrs. Officer,” the seventh Billboard charting single from Tha Carter 3, Wayne has confirmed his next project as the Dedication III.

The mixtape will mark the third installment of his popular Gangsta Grillz series with DJ Drama.

At press time the Dedication III is set for release on November 14, and will feature appearances from Kanye West, T-Pain, Ludacris, Jae Millz, Willie Da Kid, and La the Darkman.

Young Buck Brushes Off Old G-Unit Beefs

Young Buck’s split from G-Unit was big news earlier this year. But in a recent interview with MTV News, the rapper said he not only parted ways with the crew - but with their beefs with other rappers as well.

“I’m open to work with everybody,” Buck said in the interview. “At this point I’m seeing that a lot of people that I’ve had these so-called situations with… I’ve had a chance to bump shoulders, and it just ain’t that.”

Buck went on to elaborate on his comments by naming the rappers he’s now on good terms with.

“Jadakiss for one. The Dipset thing, Jim Jones, we all good,” he continued. “I got music with everybody, even from The Game situation. My whole thing is about collabing with those that’s looking to collab with me.”

When asked about Fat Joe and Terror Squad, Buck said that situation is dead in the water too.

“It is what it is. I haven’t had any conversations with Fat Joe. I’ve seen Khaled, we see each other, we ain’t had no conversations. But I’m right here, and they right there. It’s a respect thing.”

“I don’t carry no situations that was there with G-Unit at this point. It’s dead weight I’ve been carrying, and I’m sure G-Unit ain’t carrying none of my situations. [Now] it’s a clean slate.”

Jay Z & Diddy Barred From Obama Victory Rally

US rapper’s Jay-Z and P Diddy and a host of other big name supporters of Barack Obama’s presidential campaign have been asked not to attend the candidate’s proposed victory rally, according to reports.

Mr Obama is due to hold a ticket-only event in Chicago’s Grant Park this evening where Democrat’s hope he will be unveiled as America’s next President.

Although the candidate is grateful for the musicians’ support, his campaign team is said to be keen on having just one star – Mr Obama – in attendance.

A source told the Chicago Sun-Times: ”There will be plenty of time for a new President Obama to be surrounded by famous fans, all hopeful about a new administration.”

Hollywood actors Ben Affleck and Susan Sarandon are also cited by the newspaper as names who have been advised to miss the rally.

Mr Obama has received widespread support from musicians and celebrities during his campaign to become America’s first black president.

Dr. Dre Sues “Rollin With Dr. Dre” Author For $100,000

Hip Hop super producer Dr. Dre is no stranger to the court room. The hitmaker who’s been involved in numerous lawsuits this year will be heading back to court after filing a $100,000 lawsuit against author and former friend, Bruce Williams.According to the lawsuit filed on Tuesday, October 28th, in L.A. County Superior Court, Dr. Dre claims he loaned Williams $101,377.85 and hasn’t seen a dime of the loan since.

Earlier this year, Williams released “Rollin’ With Dre: An Insider’s Tale of the Rise, Fall and Rebirth of West Coast Hip Hop,” which chronicled the struggles of Dre and others in hip hop revealing such gems as “Suge Knight once gave Snoop Dogg a BMW 850 two-seater for his birthday in blue — Crip colors. Snoop enjoyed it until cops surrounded it one day — it had been stolen.”

Since it’s release, the book hasn’t brought about the best of luck for the good doctor. During a launch party for the written work, two men were hit from gunshots fired, causing the celebrations to end abruptly.

One of the man was fatally wounded while the other was left in critical condition.

Def Jam Exec VP Commits Suicide

Def Jam executive vice president Shakir Stewart committed suicide today (Nov. 1) in New York, according to sources. No other details were available at deadline.

Stewart succeeded Jay-Z at the top of the Def Jam ladder in June and also retained his duties as senior VP of A&R at Island Def Jam. The Oakland, Calif., native signed such artists as Rick Ross, Young Jeezy and newcomer Karina Pasian.

Stewart cut his teeth as a music executive at Hitco Music Publishing, where he was creative director and later senior VP of creative/GM and signed Beyonce Knowles.

Even before he gained a rep for promoting rap concerts during his Morehouse College days, Stewart was “the guy who was the head of passing out fliers at seven clubs a night, seven days a week in 20-degree weather,” he told Billboard this summer.

Stewart said at the time it was his goal to help develop “new, young executives … The hot executive who’s 21, 22 years old and has a serious passion for music and the desire to work 27 hours a day. That’s where I was at that time in my life. And that’s who I’m looking to mentor. I don’t see many people like that. Instead, I see a lot of kids who want to live the lifestyle but don’t want to put in the work and do what it takes.”

ANTA — Weezy F. Baby is having another baby. Lil Wayne announced Saturday night during the BET Hip-Hop Awards that he’s having his first son in just a “couple of days.” He was onstage accepting the Lyricist of the Year Award when he told the crowd at the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center of his impending bundle of joy.

Not even three quarters into the show, Wayne had already jumped on the stage with DJ Khaled and a community of friends to help his mouthy friend accept an award; joined Common, T-Pain and Busta Rhymes during N.E.R.D.’s “Spazz”; and won the People’s Champ Award. Another Weezy highlight was his collision of skills with T-Pain and Ludacris during “Can’t Believe It” and “Chopped & Screwed.”

With all this commotion, you’d think Wayne would be relishing the spotlight. Nah. He told MTV News earlier in the day he’d rather be in the studio.

Next on his plate is the release of a new album, Tha Carter III. Think it’s already out? You’re correct. However, the tireless New Orleans mic fiend says he’s dropping a new version of the album with all brand-new songs: He said clearly that the record is not — repeat not — Tha Carter IV.

Wayne also the MVP of the Year award, beating out Jay-Z, DJ Khaled, T.I. and Kanye West. He dedicated the award to his daughter.

Wayne’s final words when accepting the award were, “I got a son dropping any day, pray for me.”
